When VR Meets Special Needs Education
Abstract
Virtual Reality (VR) was not new. In the 1960s, Ivan Sutherland pioneered the VR research by inventing the world first head-mounted display (HMD). Oculus is a HMD marketed by Facebook recently. In this talk, I will discuss some prior art of the VR research relevant to special needs education. I will then share some of my thought about VR and special needs, autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) in particular. I will present some the VR projects currently undergoing in my project team for special needs education.
