张宝辉教授在2013年世界科学与技术教育大会做邀请报告

   2013年世界科学与技术教育大会(WorldSTE2013, the World Conference on Science and Technology Education)于2013929-103日在马来西亚古晋举行。会议的主题是:活的科学,热爱学习,创造变化Live Science, Love Learning, Create Change)。应国际科学教育协会理事会( International Council of Association for Science EducationICASE)的邀请,张宝辉教授作为重点发言人(Highlighted speaker)参会(http://worldste2013.org/news/speaker-news/leading-chinese-expert-coming-to-kuching.html)。来自世界上38个国家的近800名科学与技术教育学者参加了会议。张宝辉教授也利用这个机会同大会的其他邀请报告人进行了广泛接触,增进了了解,为今后可能的合作打下了基础。张宝辉教授报告的题目是:从iMVT WiMVT—将信息与计算技术融合于科学学习(From iMVT to WiMVT: Integrating ICT into Science Learning

 

张宝辉教授的报告摘要如下:

Students nowadays are born to a technology rich world so they are even called “digital natives”. ICT use can be both a means and an objective when addressing student science learning difficulties. I started studying how to using computer-based modeling for middle school science learning since 1999 and finished my dissertation on this in 2003. After years of school-based research in the US and Singapore, my collaborator s and I summarized our pedagogical approach to be iMVT, which stands for Modeling and Visualization Technology integrated inquiry-based science learning) (e.g. Zhang, Ye, Foong, & Chia, 2010).  With continued efforts, I also coined the term WiMVT after having an opportunity to build successful iMVT curriculum features into a web-based environment (e.g. Zhang, Wu, & Wu, 2010; Zhang, Sun, Mous, & Koh, 2011).

The presentation will unpack iMVT and WiMVT and describe how the pedagogy and system is developed following a “design research” tradition. Opportunities and challenges in developing, sustaining, and scaling the iMVT pedagogy through learning sciences research will be discussed. The presentation calls for attention to improve and spread the pedagogical model for science learning to benefit more students.

国际科学教育协会理事会(International Council of Associations for Science Education)建立于1973年,它通过支持会员所在机构来促进全世界儿童和青年的科学技术教育。特别是提供个体科学教师机构相互沟通与联系以促进科学技术教育的手段。协会出版《国际科学教育》杂志及其它出版物,收集整理全世界科学教育协会名单,传播国内及各地区团体的活动信息,与诸如联合国教科文组织的其它机构联系并开展区域性活动促进科学教育团体的交流,努力促进科学教育。ICASE每三年召开一次年会http://icaseonline.net/)。
